writing on the wall

I love the idea of keeping a chalkboard in the home.  Whether it's used for to-do lists, notes, inspirational quotes or as a creative outlet for children, they can be a great way to add some fun as well as function to your space.

Go to Country Living or Design Sponge to find out how to make your own chalkboard with paint!

pieces

Getting super excited for our trip to Atlanta this weekend... escaping the crazy snow for a bit!  While there I can't wait to check out one of my favorite shopping sources, Pieces, in person.  Hopefully I'll be bringing home something new for the apartment as well as a bit of warmth to this freezing metropolis!

Check out some of my fave recent finds from Pieces...

i wish i had

A window nook!  We're having a bit of a blizzard in NYC today and I just keep thinking how lovely it would be to have a cozy little spot to curl up with a book and watch the snow come down.

ds: before & after

I love watching things get made over... the before, the after, the whole process in between.  One of Design Sponge's latest Before & After posts shows the transition of an attic from a dark, gloomy storage space to a bright white writing room.  I'm loving the white washed floors, the paneled ceiling, the new skylights, and the beautiful white day bed... what a difference!

The latest issue of Lonny features the stunning home of Jarlath Mellett.  From his amazing art collection to his eclectic mix of casual and elegant to the gorgeous drapery in the living area... this space is perfection in my eyes!

canopy heaven

In my bedroom we never close the shades all the way, I love waking up to the light pouring in.  But there are some mornings when I'd rather just pull the blanket up over my head and catch a few more hours of sleep!  That's when I start thinking that a canopy could be a nice addition to the bed - I could just reach over and let the curtains loose around me and go back to sleep.  Zzzzzz
Here are a few versions of a modern canopy I think are simply gorgeous.

A canopy over the tub seems like a romantic idea as well!
